The 4th of July is notorious for being one of the busiest days of the year. Almost everyone has plans and they usually involve BBQs, fireworks, and family. But every 4th, I look to the backcountry instead. It’s empty and vast. I get my BBQ through my camping stove, I get my fireworks through the splashes of color in the mountains and the sky, and I get my family the few that I drag out the door with me.
