It was the end of a long day travelling. We’d taken an early flight to Chamonix in France. It was the last day the Aiguille du midi would be open for the season so we decided to make the ascent. Just before returning to the foot of the mountain we stepped off the trail to explore. I captured this crow looking out from its perch across the horizon just before to took flight to return to its roost. The relaxed calm the image has reflects the quiet satisfaction we all felt as the sun began set on our first day in the Alps.
