Spiti valley is known for its mountains that have no trees an limited vegetation. Effectively a desert but in the mountains, the only source of water here is the melting snow rivers in the summer. the journey of here are no roads from Manali to Spiti for a large part of the journey, but we were offroading in a shared taxi with a local driver who knew his way around. Here the road was too challenging and he asked us to walk some of it while he carefully manoeuvred the car through the rocks and river.
