On mission for Oxfam Intermon in Haiti, I was photographing improved water sources and wells in remote northern communities. They were winning the fight against cholera, and the success stories were remarkable. After hiking for an hour outside Plaisance we crossed a river and I came upon the most verdant banana plantation. This leaf had fallen on the ground and I snapped it in full sunlight then ran to catch up with the group. For me, it’s a sign of greener days and more optimistic times to come for this slice of Caribbean island. I continue to live and photograph Haiti. Visit Amanacer.ca.
