The African leopard, recognized as the nominate subspecies of leopards, is indigenous to numerous African countries. Its extensive distribution covers most of sub-Saharan Africa, although habitat conversion has led to the fragmentation of its historical range. Additionally, leopards have been documented in North Africa.
